This browser-based utility replaces the color tone of a PNG image. For example, you can turn a multi-colored PNG into a blue-tone, orange-tone, or purple-tone image. Additionally, you can quickly apply the sepia effect on a PNG and make a PNG grayscale. The way it works is it overlays the needed color effect on top of existing PNG and it's fully automated – you just need to specify the new color shade of the PNG in the options. You can select it via a color palette or enter it using its name, hex code, or RGB code. Once the new color shade is known, the program converts it to the HSL (Hue, Saturation, Lightness) format. Then it finds the HSL representation of all PNG pixels and replaces the parameters "H" (hue) and "S" (saturation) with the new hue and saturation values. The lightness parameter is responsible for the amount of white or black color in the PNG and it remains unchanged. In other words, it's responsible for how close a color is to the absolute white or absolute black and it also is used to draw the shadows in the image. In this example, we create a PNG with a sepia effect. We load a colorful photo of horses in the mountains and set the new color tone to hex code #cca47d (which is sepia). Our algorithm changes each pixel in the PNG to this new color and in the output, we get a sepia photo. (Source: Pexels.)
This example converts the color shade of a foggy forest PNG from green-gray to dark-slate-blue. To do it, we select the color in the attached palette and set it to the rgb(74, 66, 112) color value. This color value is dark-slate-blue shade and as a result, the fog and the trees in the input PNG are converted to this new color shade. (Source: Pexels.)
In this example, we overlay the blue color filter on top of a red rose and get a blue rose. This PNG image has no background, so only the opaque pixels change their color (all transparent pixels don't change and remain transparent).
