This browser-based utility removes backgrounds from PNG images. The background can be a single solid color, various shades of the same color, or have a mild linear or radial gradient. The program uses a smart color-matching algorithm to make the background transparent. When you choose the background color you want to get rid of in the options, then the algorithm finds and removes all pixels of this color. You can quickly select the background color to be removed by clicking on a color in the PNG in the preview window. Alternatively, you specify the color in the options using its name, hex code, or RGB code. If the similar color tone percentage option is 0%, then only pixels of a single specified color are removed. If the percentage is greater than 0%, then pixels of similar color shades are also removed. The similar color shades are all colors in the vicinity of the given color in the color palette. For example, for the yellow color, similar colors are corn-yellow, butter-yellow, lemon-yellow, and honey-yellow. As the background is usually surrounding a central object in the foreground, the "Delete Outer Areas" option can be very useful as it removes only those areas that are adjacent to the sides of the PNG. After deleting the background, you can also smooth the pixels along the edges of transparency. This can be done by activating the "Smooth Edge Line" option. When this option is on, the algorithm will refine the edges of the transparent background. You can also enter the thickness of the smoothing line. For example, if it's set to 2 pixels, then 2 pixels at the edges will be made semi-transparent. The result of removing the background is shown in the second preview window. To clearly see the areas that are removed, look at the image with the "Preview Deleted Background" mode turned on. Png-abulous!

In this example, we delete a dusty orange sky from a PNG picture. We select the background color by clicking on the picture in the input preview and get the color code rgba(197, 98, 144, 255). Since the background has a gradient from hot yellow to dark orange, we increase the color similarity percentage to 23%. As a result, we get a PNG picture with an outline of two birds in a tree and without the background. (Source: Pexels.)
In this example, we remove the blue sky pixels and create a lighthouse photo with no background. We delete the #AACDD3 hex code color as well as 6% of similar color palette shades. To make sure that there are no blue pixels remaining on the edges of the lighthouse, we smooth the edge boundary with a thickness of one pixel. (Source: Pexels.)
In this example, we make the background pixels surrounding a notebook transparent. We select the removal color using the palette in the options, which gives us the pink color code rgb(197, 98, 144). Additionally, we delete 23% more similar pink color tones and tints. To completely remove the pink pixels on the edges of the notebook, we refine the edges by smoothing them over a 4-pixel radius. In this example, we remove the background only around the plate of quail eggs. The background color is light gray but this shade also appears in the spots on the quail eggs. To remove only the background pixels and keep the eggs opaque, we use the "Delete Outer Areas" option. This option removes only those background pixels that touch the edges of the image.
