This tool allows you to extract a handwritten signature from a photo or a scanned image. The extracted signature is called a digital signature or an electronic signature because it has an invisible background and it can be imported into PDF files, Word documents, used in online services that require a signature file, or be overlaid on backgrounds of any color. The tool finds your signature by detecting colors in the image. As a signature is usually written in blue or black ink and the paper color is white, it's very easy to identify it. The tool separates the ink color pixels from the background pixels and shows only the ink pixels in the output editor. By default, the tool looks for ink pixels in black color but if your signature is in another color, then you can help the tool find it by clicking on the signature directly in the input editor. Alternatively, you can select the signature color from a color palette in the tool options. Once the first version of the signature is extracted, you can refine the selection by adjusting the "color tolerance" option to include slight variations of the signature's hue. The default tolerance level is 20%, which selects lighter and darker signature shades but if you change it to 30% or 40%, then it will match additional ink hues. Then, you can further improve it by modifying its final color. For example, you can make it black, blue, red, or any other color. You can also set the background color that the signature will be printed on after it's isolated. If you leave the background color field blank, the background will remain transparent. To delete empty padding around the signature, enable the remove excess space option. If the edges of the signature appear too harsh and pixelated, you can refine them by adjusting the edge smoothness depth. If necessary, you can also add an outline around the signature. The outline can be of the same color as the signature, and you can set any width for it, making the signature thicker and more noticeable. Png-abulous!

This example extracts Stephen King's signature in black ink from the input image. The tool detects the black ink (specified in the options) and extracts all color shades very close to the black color with a tolerance of 15%. As a result, the program removes the white background pixels while preserving the original signature ink color and returns a digital version of the signature in PNG format. (Source: Wikipedia.)
This example isolates the historic signature of Queen Elizabeth I from an old parchment. The program identifies the signature by its dark brown ink and extracts it along with other shades within a 20% color range. The program also enhances the extracted signature by replacing the old ink with solid black color. Additionally, the program increasing the thickness of the signature by adding a 2-pixel black outline around its edges. (Source: Wikipedia.)
In this example, we extract the blue handwritten signature from a scan of two signatures. We select the blue signature color by clicking on it in the input editor and set the color tolerance to 5% to match lighter and darker blue color tones. As a result, the program carefully separates the blue pixels from the scanned paper. Additionally, we crop the output image to remove excess space and enable the edge smoothing option with a 1-pixel depth to ensure the final digital signature can be pasted on any document.
