This browser-based utility compresses PNG format images and makes them smaller in size. A compressed PNG needs fewer bytes to store on the disk and if it's used on a web page, then the page will load much faster on the Internet as there is less information to send. This is relevant especially today when Google rankings take Core Web Vitals information and Page Speed information into account when ranking websites. The faster a site loads, the higher its ranking. This program allows you to compress PNG images without losing quality and it preserves the original dimensions of the images and their transparency (if any). It can reduce the PNG size by up to 70%, depending on the input file. If the PNG file is rich in colors, such as a nature photo or an artwork, then the compression will be smaller as there are a lot of unique items in the photo, but if the PNG has many similar colors, such as the sky, or a dark night photo, then the compression will be larger. If you're interested in the technical details of how this tool works, then it recompresses the PNG's IDAT data stream. It applies 6 different compression methods and various delta filters and finds which combination produces the smallest output PNG. It also removes unwanted ancillary chunks, embedded comments, and meta information. When you load a PNG, you can immediately see its original size in the options and after you click the "Save as" and "Download" buttons, you can also see the size of the compressed file as the compression happens just once on Download.
