This browser-based tool separates color layers in PNG icons. It is particularly useful when you need to work with individual colors and layers of an icon separately, such as for editing, analysis, or further use in various design projects. The tool offers two methods for color separation: automatic and custom. The automatic mode splits the icon into several color layers using a quantization algorithm. For example, if you specify 3 layers, the program will identify the three dominant shades in the icon, create an icon version with a reduced color palette, and display each color on a separate layer. If more precise separation is needed, you can use the custom method. This mode allows you to manually specify exact colors and threshold values for extraction. For example, you can input "green/15%" and "red/20%", and the tool will generate two layers: one with green shades and the other with red. After separating the colors, you can choose how to display these layers. The tool offers two options: placing the layers side by side or overlaying them on top of each other. You can also adjust the size and positioning of the layers by cropping empty areas around them or centering the layers. To finalize the editing process, you can add background fill to the layers and also show the border of each layer with a line. You can set the color and thickness of the outline. Png-abulous!

In this example, we take a sunset icon and extract three color layers from it. We use an automatic quantization mode that determines the three necessary colors for extraction. As a result, we get a separate blue layer for the sea, a light yellow layer for the sun, and an orange layer for the sky. (Source: Wikipedia.)
In this example, we extract two specific colors from a hot dog icon: light yellow (#ffe461) and orange-red (#ed6b2d). For the light yellow color, we set a threshold value of 20%, which includes both the mustard and bun colors in this layer. For the orange-red color, we set a threshold value of 15%, which includes both the light and shadow parts of the sausage. We also add a floral white fill to the layers and draw a thick sienna-colored frame around them. (Source: Wikipedia.)
In this example, we extract three separate color layers and place them on one image. We specify the separation of green (#84c04e), brown (#8a664b), and sandy yellow (#dcb672) colors. By overlaying these layers, we get a palm tree icon, which we crop to remove excess space. (Source: Wikipedia.)
