What Is a PNG Color Remover?

This tool allows you to remove a specific color from a PNG image. When a color is removed, it's replaced with a transparent color. You can also choose a different replacement color to fill the removed area. The color you want to remove from the PNG image can be specified in the options by entering the color name or selecting the color from the palette. This color can also be picked directly from the PNG by clicking on it in the input preview area. The new color is set to transparent by default, but you can also set it to black, white, and any other, which can be specified in the "Replacement Color" option. To remove various shades of the target color, you can adjust the match threshold value. A higher threshold will remove more shades of the same color, while a lower threshold will remove fewer shades. To match just one color, you can set the threshold value to zero. To improve the transition between the removed color and other remaining colors, you can use the color edge smoothing option. This option will add a layer of pixels around the edges of the removed color. The layer's width can be set via the smoothing radius option. To check which color areas will be removed, use the two-color preview option. This option will show the removed color areas in black color and the remaining color areas in white color. This high-contrast preview will ensure that the right colors are matched and the output PNG meets your needs. Png-abulous!

Remove PNG Color in the Background

In this example, we remove the light gray color that's used as the background color in a PNG image of a houseplant with green leaves. For easy color selection, we simply click on the light gray color in the preview area and remove an additional 8% of various other gray tones that appear very close to the edges of the leaves. Furthermore, to enhance the visual quality of the output PNG, we smooth the edges of the leaves and removed colors within a 1-pixel line radius. (Source: Pexels.)

Remove the Black Color from a PNG

This example identifies and removes black pixels from a PNG image. When the black areas are removed, they are replaced with transparent pixels, making the silhouette of a hand launching a paper airplane invisible. As the hand is drawn in various shades of black color, we set the color proximity threshold to 21%.
