Convert ASCII Art to PNG Pixel Art

In this example, we convert an ASCII art frog into colorful PNG pixel art. In the options, we assign a color to each symbol, so backticks reserve transparent space, "X" characters create the dark green outline, and minus signs, plus signs, percent signs, carets, and zeros form the frog's body, shadows, highlights, eyes, and other details. Since line breaks already arrange the ASCII art into rows, we leave the row length blank and enlarge each character to a 10-by-10 PNG pixel block.

Create a PNG Icon from Pixels

In this example, we create a PNG icon of a magnifying glass using a combination of ASCII, ANSI, and Unicode symbols. We assign different colors to characters such as "#", "@", "%", "░", "+", and "·" to form the dark outline, metallic rim, blue glass, highlights, and brown handle. We display each symbol as a 12×12-pixel cell on a transparent background and add 8 pixels of padding around the finished icon. (Source: Vecteezy.com.)

Generate an 8-bit PNG Pixel Sprite

In this example, we generate an 8-bit PNG pixel sprite of Alucard, a character from the game "Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse". We use lowercase letters as color codes to recreate his pale hair, dark outfit, and red cape. We enlarge every character cell to a 15×15-pixel block and enable a semi-transparent black grid to emphasize the retro 8-bit pixel structure. (Source: Konami.)
