World's simplest browser-based Portable Network Graphics (PNG) alpha channel inverter. Just import your PNG image with transparent or semi-transparent areas into the editor on the left, and you will instantly get an image with reversed transparency levels on the right. In the options, you can choose between classic full inversion, selective inversion of pixels within a chosen alpha range, or mirroring transparency around a custom midpoint. Free, quick, and very powerful. Created with love by team Browserling.

This browser-based program inverts the alpha channel of a PNG image, transforming transparency values to their opposite values. The alpha channel defines how visible each pixel is, with values ranging from 0 (fully transparent) to 255 (fully opaque). This tool supports three alpha inversion modes. When working with transparency masks, the "Full Inversion" mode is usually the most effective. It reverses the mask directly, so hidden areas become visible and visible areas become hidden. Fully opaque pixels (255) turn fully transparent (0), while semi-transparent pixels are proportionally inverted. The "Inversion in Range" mode allows selective inversion. Only pixels whose alpha values fall within the specified range are inverted. This is useful when you want to change semi-transparent regions without affecting fully opaque or fully transparent areas. For example, you can invert only pixels with an opacity between 5 and 250, leaving solid and invisible regions unchanged. In "Relative Inversion" mode, transparency is mirrored around a base alpha value instead of being flipped at 0 and 255. This means pixels more transparent than the base become more opaque, while those more opaque than the base become more transparent. The formula is A′ = base + (base − A). For example, with a base of 128, a pixel at 100 inverts to 156. Png-abulous!

In this example, we apply the full inversion to a PNG transparency mask of a maple leaf. The original mask shows the leaf silhouette in solid black with a transparent background. After inversion, the background becomes solid black while the leaf itself turns fully transparent. Semi-transparent pixels along the edges are also flipped, producing a reversed gradient fade from outside to inside. (Source: Pexels.)
In this example, we selectively invert transparency only for pixels whose alpha values fall between 5 and 250. This excludes fully transparent pixels (alpha 0–5) and fully opaque pixels (250–255) from the operation. As a result, the transparent background remains unchanged, the solid headphones remain opaque, but the soft, semi-transparent shadow surrounding them is inverted. This transforms the outward-spreading glow into an inner shadow effect. (Source: Pexels.)
In this example, we upload a PNG image of ice cubes and apply a relative-inversion to the alpha channel based on a threshold of 180. The result is a symmetrical shift in transparency: ice segments and melted puddles with an original alpha below 180 become significantly more opaque, whereas the darker contour lines with an alpha above 180 become nearly transparent.
